Kobayashi Trap Opener
The Kobayashi Trap Opener is a powerful and practical opening that looks simple on the surface but hides a series of deep traps. It’s easy for you to memorize and play, but incredibly difficult for your opponent to navigate without falling behind.
This isn’t a trick play. Trick plays come with risk. If they fail, you lose something. A trap, on the other hand, is safe. Even if your opponent avoids it, the result is still an even game. But in most cases, the trap works, and you gain a clear advantage early on.

Lesson 0: Introduction
At 10:57, when white plays 32, black should extend down to the 2nd line to capture everything.
This push and cut has a few variations, but they are not one of those crazy variations that can have a lot of branches, so you can check out some of the common moves that could come out in your own games with AI.
I will make a video on push and cut variation in the future, but checking with AI is enough at this stage. -
